Today was an exciting day. We had a special visit from
Angela from HDC, who was on her way to deliver two new recycling containers to
the Black Bridge Transfer Station.
Angela has been helping Room 8 and 7 with our Waste Wise
project, and thought making a connection to the community through the children
was a fantastic idea and what a great way to do it by being the first to see
the new recycling containers.
The children waited eagerly by the fence to see the big truck
arrive with the 20ft container. Angela talked to the children about her job at
the Council, and how the containers will work. When each container is full, it
will be picked up by the truck and replaced with another container. She
discussed how the glass container was split up to cater for the different
colours and that we need to separate our recycling when putting it into the
container.
This week we also introduced the new Waste Bin System to the school, and gave all the classes clear labels to show what can go in each bin.
